About Binga Rural District Council

Binga Rural District Council (BRDC) officially opened its gate on the of August 1981 by the Minister of Local Government Cde E. Chikowore The Council was formed in line with the decentralization Of powers by the Central Government like any other Rural District Council in the Country. BRDC is an autonomous body, its motive is mainly to provide services to the people in the areas Within its jurisdiction using the delegated powers from the Central Government.

Binga District is located in Matabeleland North Province and is a local Authority established in terms of section 275 of Constitution of Zimbabwe amendment (NO. 20) Act 2013 as read with Rural District Council Act (Chapter 29:13) and is under the Ministry of Local Government and Public works. Binga falls under the semi-arid agricultural region five (5) and the topography of the District js generally rugged, hilly and mountainous in some areas, The District shares boundaries with Lupane to the south, Hwange to the west and Gokwe to the east and Zambia to the north demarcated by the mighty Zambezi. The District is located midway between Kariba Town and Victoria Falls. Binga district has 17 Chief and 25wards and 25 Councilor's and is administered from Binga town Centre which is located 435km from Bulawayo along Lake Kariba. The total population of the District is 159 092 (2022 census) of which 54% (75 356 are females and 46% (63 736 are males)), Binga Rural District Council's registered offices are situated at stand 274 Binga Centre. The postal address of the organization is PO Box 36 Binga.

Frequently Asked Questions

To apply for a business license, download and complete the Business License Application Form from our website. Submit the completed form along with the required documents (business registration certificate, tax clearance, and ID) to our offices. Payment can be made online or at our revenue office. Processing typically takes 5-7 working days.

Property rates are calculated based on the property value and zoning. Residential properties are charged at 0.5% of the property value annually, while commercial properties are charged at 1.2%. Agricultural land is charged at a flat rate of $15 per hectare. For a detailed assessment of your specific property, please contact our Finance Department.

You can report service delivery issues through our online service request portal, by calling our toll-free number (0800-123-456), or by visiting our offices. Please provide specific details about the issue, including location and photos if possible. All reports are assigned a tracking number so you can follow up on progress.

Full council meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at 10:00 AM at the Council Chambers. Committee meetings are held during the second week of each month. All meetings are open to the public except for closed sessions. Meeting schedules and agendas are published on our website and notice boards one week in advance.
